It’s everybody’s favorite time of year again! No, I’m not talking about Spring Break; I’m talking about early spring-cleaning! Well, maybe it’s not your favorite time of year, but it is a great time to get a head start on that spring cleaning. Here are a few tips to get you spring cleaning started. Remember, if you just do one or two things a week, you’ll have a lot accomplished by the time spring does roll around and you’ll have more time to be outside planting flowers and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Ideas For Early Spring Cleaning
Give Your Baseboards A Good Cleaning. Just a cloth and warm soapy water or a spray bottle with a solution of vinegar and water will do the trick here. While you’re at it, why not dust the ceiling fans and tops of doorways?
De-Clutter Your Closet. This doesn’t have to be an all day affair. Just spend a little time making a couple of piles that you will use to either throw away, sell or donate. Look for clothing you haven’t worn in over a year. If you haven’t worn it by now, chances are you aren’t going to, so be aggressive about clearing clutter. It feels good to simplify!
Clean Or Replace Your Shower Curtain. You can buy liners very inexpensively, or you can run your current one through the washing machine with some bleach to remove any soap scum or mildew. Hang it back up and allow it to air dry.
Clear Out Cobwebs. Vacuum or take a broom and knock loose any cobwebs that collect in the top corners of the room. You can also use the hose of a vacuum cleaner to get the dust and dirt that spreads on the ceiling around an air vent. If you have a “popcorn” type ceiling, this is especially true, as dust tends to get in the little grooves and particles. Vacuuming with a brush attachment will surprise you at how much you can get off the ceiling!
